Purr-Tender Main Index
Purr-Tenders were originally created by Hallmark cards, but in 1988, Fisher-Price introduced their first assortment of plush Purr-tender characters. Purr-tenders are plush cats that were sold with unique costumes that help them to pretend to be other animals. Each Purr-tender really purrs like a real cat when hugged and squeezed. You may click here for a list of all known Purr-Tenders in order by set model number.
The first 4 Purr-tenders were Scamp-purr who pretends to be a mouse, Chirp-purr who pretends to be a toucan, Romp-purr who pretends to be a dog, and Hop-purr who pretends to be a bunny rabbit. In 1989, a new Purr-tender was added...Teddy-purr who pretends to be a bear. In the 1989 Fisher-Price catalogues, a set of 4 Make Believe Purr-Tenders are pictured. These Purr-Tenders dress up as girls' favorite fanyasy characters: a bride, ballerina, princess and fairy godmother. These 4 different cats have lace covering their belly and ears opposed to fur, and they have pink paw prints on all 4 paws. We have never seen any of the Make-Believe Purr-Tenders, do they may not had made it to production?
