Description: This long-lived telephone had been a child's favorite for over 3 decades! The Chatter Telephone was designed with a rotary dial to teach children how to dial a telephone. When the dial is turned and released, it rewards child with a ringing bell! This friendly phone makes a "chatter" and his eyes roll up and down as he is pulled. Designed for children ages 2 to 6 years old.

  • FPT2487 - 1962-1966 - Telephone with a square wooden base that has white paper lithographs on the top and edges of multi-colored stars and a "F" in a red circle and a "P" in a blue circle on the sides. The circles with "F" and "P" have colored lines on the side, like the way a child would draw the sun with lines on the sides as the sun rays. The telephone has an open smiling mouth on the front and a white plastic top with a white plastic rotary dial and blue rolling eyes. The phone has a red plastic telephone handset that fits on top of the phone. The phone rolls on 4 BLUE wooden wheels and makes a "chatter" while his eyes roll up and down as he is pulled. Measures 6-1/4" long, 6-1/4" wide, 4" tall. Receiver measures 7-1/4" long, 2" wide, 10" long cord. *See "Variations" below.

Other Information:
  • This phone was sold in a 7-1/2" long, 4" high, 6-9/16" deep display box.
  • 1990-1991 - The model number was changed to #2035 Chatter Telephone.
  • 1992-1993 - This phone was slightly redesigned and issued as #2063 Chatter Telephone. The newly designed phone has multi-colored confetti on the base opposed to multi-colored stars. The phone's smile changed too, is a 1 line smile with a red dot on the end, opposed to an open mouth smile with blush colored cheeks.
  • 1994-1995 - The phone was totally redesigned to an all-plastic phone, the #2251 Chatter Telephone. The phone's body is big and bulky. Oddly, it still has a rotary dial, a feature that is almost extinct.
  • 1996-Currently in stores - The above telephone was given a new model number, the #72251 Chatter Telephone. Nothing except the model number changed from the '94-'95 version to this version.
